Bike and See - Things to do near Vaxholm beyond eat and drink

About and how to book
Welcome to Vaxholm!
We get it – you’re here for more than just collecting ice cream receipts and looking at boats.
If you want a little more skin and fewer tourists (but at least as much enjoyment in life), we have the recipe for you here:
1. Bike and Paddle – For those who want both archipelago air and lactic acid (in just the right dose):
Why just sit on a pier when you can pedal away like a true explorer? Pick up your steel horse at Gästhamnen
(or crack the SMS code like a secret agent at the self-service) and head towards Eriksö.
On the way there, you roll along the south side where the grand wholesaler’s villas are lined up.
It’s perfectly okay to glance a little enviously – it’s part of the experience!
After about 3 km you reach the Canoe Club. This is hallowed ground where both world champions and Olympic heroes have honed their skills,
but don’t worry, they also let us mere mortals rent equipment.
Paddle out into calm waters far away from the big Vaxholm boats' surging waves. Whether you want to be out for an hour or play Robinson Crusoe
for a whole week, you'll get the tips you need. When your arms start to feel like boiled spaghetti, cycle back, but treat yourself to a pit stop
at Roddarhuset's café first. You actually deserve that now.
The result? A day full of impressions, zero downtime and memories that will last until the next vacation.
2. Bike and Climb - Climbing park and high-altitude course for everyone over 5 years
Start your day with 3 km of fresh archipelago air on the way to Eriksö. Once there, we exchange the bike path for a much more airy view!
At SkyPark, you get 2.5 hours of play and stomach-churning fun among the treetops. When you have landed softly again,
a pleasant bike ride back to the starting point awaits. Skypark starts new adventures every hour from 10 am to 4 pm -
plenty of time for both lactic acid and laughter!
3. Bike and See - Rindö & Skarpö: For those who want more of everything (and then some)
Roll down to the iconic yellow ferries and let them do the heavy lifting over to Rindö. When you roll off the ramp,
you are faced with a life-changing choice (or, at least, a choice of route):
Turn left and haed towards Skarpö: Here we are talking house sightseeing at the highest level! Pedal through the beautiful
villas until you reach Skarpöborg. Here you get a front row seat to Stegesund – the archipelago’s answer to the E4, but with much nicer vessels.
Pack your picnic in the cute little pavilion and sit there and look important while the boats simmer by.
Straight ahead on Rindö, for the brave: Set your sights on the hill and begin the expedition towards the other end of Rindö. The goal? Oscar Fredriksborg’s fortress and the famous Oxdjupet. Here the strait is so narrow that you can almost high-five the passengers on the Finland ferries as they glide by. It’s awesome, I promise!
Do you need to cool off after all the impressions? A short distance to the northwest awaits a really nice swimming spot. When your stomach starts to growl, you curve into the old regimental area KA1. Here you will find delicacies at both the Cheese Factory and the restaurant Systrarna och jag.
This is the tour for those who are not satisfied with the usual tourist route. Yes, it's a bit longer to pedal, but on the other hand you get to see more than 99% of all other visitors.
Full, happy and with somewhat comfortable legs you then cycle back towards the ferry again.
4. Bike and Sauna - Wood-fired sauna - a really nice Nordic moment
Roll between pastel-colored wooden facades and fragrant gardens on your way out to the sea. Vaxholm's beautiful profile follows you the entire short kilometer to the wood-fired sauna at Fredriksberg. Here, where the nature of the archipelago takes over, you will find peace. Feel the warmth of the fire, take a refreshing swim in the Baltic Sea and enjoy the feeling of freedom as you cycle back home through the archipelago's capital, a truly beautiful small town.
Stop for a coffee at Roddarhuset - well worth a visit!
5. Guided tour on the sea - Private boat trip 30 or 60 minutes
Around Vaxholm there are several nice islands with beautiful old wholesaler villas, cozy straits and historical places. Take the opportunity to see a little more and get a feeling of a real archipelago, from the water.
Choose between 30 or 60 minutes. Start and finish is at Vaxholms Guest Harbor.
